Kristen Personne

Executive Director

Kristen grew up in Mississippi. She started her orthodontic career in 2001, and she has worked with incredible doctors over the years in both Mississippi and Florida. She joined ICON Smile Studios when her family moved to Virginia in 2010. Kristen’s passion is people, and she loves that she gets to be a part of creating new smiles every day. She has two children, Jonathan and Tyler. Kristen loves adventure, being outside, and participating and competing in Spartan and any other obstacle course races.

Katy Hesler

Director of Operations

Katy Hesler serves as the Director of Operations at Icon Smile Studios, bringing a passion for people and process improvement to every aspect of her role. Since joining the company in 2017, Katy has been dedicated to enhancing the patient and team experience through thoughtful leadership and a commitment to excellence.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Public Health, as well as a Master of Public Health in Health Management and Policy. With a strong foundation in health systems and organizational management, Katy thrives on creating environments where teams feel supported, empowered, and aligned with the company’s mission.

Katy’s approach is centered on collaboration, innovation, and making a positive impact—both inside the office and in the broader community. Her genuine love for working with people drives her to continually find ways to make things better, ensuring that Icon Smile Studios remains a place where patients and team members alike feel valued and cared for.

John Dermanis

Director of finance

John holds a BA in International Studies from Old Dominion University. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, learning languages, traveling annually to Greece, and cooking for and entertaining his family and friends. John is a Trivia buff, and he claims that no one can beat him at Jeopardy (so feel free to challenge him next time you’re in the office!) John is the proud uncle of two beautiful nieces, Asimina and Katerina.

I want to highlight the excellent experience shown to me as a patient of Madan periodontal, Icon Smile. Lexi was accommodating making my appointment and rescheduling when I needed to change. Tina was especially thorough when explaining my coverage. The dental hygienist assist was careful taking many X-rays of my sensitive teeth and covering my neck when asked during the X-rays. Dr. Madan was most pleasant, knowledgeable and meticulous when assessing my crown lengthening procedure which would occur at a later date.

I had a pretty jacked up grill, and now I look 10/10. Huge fan. Started in 2018, and they had me finished on the expected timeline. I was honestly a pretty tough case and they killed it. Looks great, great service, right price. Everything was so good. Would recommend.

The care and consideration of this entire team is second to none. Our experience was amazing! The detail and communication from every single person that we interacted with was top-tier. I don’t know if I’ve ever been sad for my son to be done with braces. We will miss seeing this teams smiling, welcoming, and knowledgeable faces every month. Ms Laurie and Ms Natalie were wonderful with my autistic so who needed braces. Ms Laurie had Ms Natalie meet with my son before starting to answer all his questions. Ms Natalie explained every step. When she started she took the time to explain each instrument, and answer all of his questions. When he got very anxious during the process, her and other staff took the time to calm him down. She was quick and efficient and because of this experience, my son is less anxious about going back for adjustments. I highly recommend Behl Orthodontics, Ms Natalie and Ms Laurie and thank them for their commitment to showing compassion for all children under their care.

The staff was very friendly, and the building was extremely clean. I loved the fact that they had a brushing station in case you wanted to brush your teeth before you see the orthodontist. Dr. Behl was very nice and took care of my teeth while I was in there. They are now turning out flawlessly from where I started. I loved that he is a top Invisalign provider; because of this, I feel safe in his hands!
