Dr. Kyle D. Lee
Dr. Kyle D. Lee is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He brings a unique combination of elite military surgical training and a genuine passion for patient care to ICON Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Lee earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Alabama, where he was also a standout swimmer and SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center before entering active duty with the U.S. Navy.
His military career shaped him into an exceptional surgeon. Dr. Lee completed a General Practice Residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, followed by a full Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Naval Medical Readiness and Training Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, where he later served as Chief Resident. He was then selected to serve as the oral surgeon aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford, one of the Navy’s most advanced aircraft carriers, providing surgical care to thousands of service members at sea. He currently serves as Associate Program Director for the OMS residency program at NMRTC Portsmouth.
Dr. Lee is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a member of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and an active member of the Virginia Society of Oral Surgeons.
His clinical expertise includes wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, bone grafting, orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, facial trauma management, oral pathology, pre-prosthetic surgery, TMJ treatment, and IV sedation.
A former professional triathlete, Dr. Lee understands the dedication it takes to perform at the highest level — and he brings that same discipline and commitment to every patient he treats. He is proud to call Hampton Roads home and is passionate about serving the military community and families of Coastal Virginia.

Education & Background
Dr. Kyle D. Lee earned a Bachelor of Biology Science from the University of Alabama in 2010, with a minor in General Business. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2016.
Following dental school, he completed a General Practice Dental Residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in 2017, further strengthening his clinical foundation. His commitment to advanced surgical training led him to complete his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the Naval Medical and Readiness Training Center in 2023.
In recognition of his expertise and dedication to the field, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2024.
Outside the Practice
Beyond his clinical work, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, service, and personal excellence. He has served in distinguished roles, including as an Oral Surgeon aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford and as Chief Resident at the NMRTC Oral Surgery Department. His diverse background also includes time as a professional triathlete, swim coach, and collegiate swimmer at the University of Alabama, reflecting a lifelong dedication to discipline and performance both inside and outside the clinic.
