About the group
A shared vision for specialized, patient-first care
ICON Smile Studios is the parent group of three specialty practices serving Hampton Roads.
Our founders
Dr. Yugal Behl & Dr. Monika Madan
As specialists in two different areas of dentistry, orthodontics and periodontics, they imagined a place where patients of all ages could see a team of specialists who work together.
That idea became ICON Smile Studios. Today the group includes Behl Orthodontics, Madan Periodontics & Implant Dentistry and ICON Pediatric Dentistry. Each practice keeps its own name, specialists and scheduling, and the group provides the shared standards, technology and coordination behind them. Dr. Behl and Dr. Madan live in Virginia Beach with their three children.

When you need a second specialist, our practices share records and plans with your permission, so you don’t start over.
Shared campuses
At our Town Center, Hilltop, Norfolk, Suffolk and Chesapeake offices, more than one specialty sees patients in the same building.

Chris Woidt
Chief Operating Officer
Chris oversees day-to-day operations across the ICON Smile Studios practices and serves as the group’s Privacy Officer.
Katy Hesler
Director of Operations
Katy joined in 2017 and holds a Master of Public Health in Health Management and Policy. She focuses on the systems that keep care consistent across locations.
John Dermanis
Director of Finance
John oversees finance for the group. He holds a BA in International Studies from Old Dominion University.
